Where We Are

Champaign Illinois is a thriving and cosmopolitan college town, home of the University of Illinois, which has about 40,000 students. We are centrally located between Chicago, St. Louis and Indianapolis, at the meeting of Interstates 57 and 74. The airport provides daily jet service, and Pogo studio is located one block from the intermodal transportation building, on the Amtrak line between Chicago and New Orleans.

Downtown Champaign is filled with music clubs, bars, coffee houses, antique, art galleries, vintage clothing and record stores. Skins and Tins, a large and fine drum shop, is one block from the studio, and three big music stores are within blocks.

There are many restaurants nearby, featuring Indian, vegetarian, Italian, Chinese, Thai, wonderful pizza and burgers, etc.

The Champaign music scene has long been strong. REO, Dan Fogleberg, and Steve Goodman started here. Adrian Belew lived and recorded here for years; Alison Krauss, Hum, Poster Children and Menthol are all Champaignites. There is a wealth of talented players and excellent groups of all types, forming a vibrant and supportive musical scene, which Pogo Studio has been serving and nurturing since 1980.
